In response to one of her last questions - it’s sometimes really draining when we are of service and expect others to be receptive or appreciative, or to change their behavior, or to somehow applaud us for helping them. Help as if you’re helping God. Do it for no other reason than because it’s the right thing to do. Not out of duty even. Out of love for God. Then you won’t be depleted.

I have to say, 15 minutes ago I was standing in my kitchen and suddenly hit with the realization that I had been acting so selfishly, I prayed briefly that god would help me to be less selfish, then somehow this video was recommended to me as I left the kitchen :) :) 🙏

There is also a problem with "being of service". Being of service can turn you into a peole pleaser who doesn't know how to say no and puts everyone else first. It is draining and it leads to emptiness and being alone. You can never do enough and people will keep asking for more. How about bring of service to oneself? Too late, you've long been consumed by "being of service". Meanwhile, everyone you have been of service to is living a fulfilled, hapoy, successful life and i just want to go to sleep and never wake up. I served and I lost. I want out.
